Meredith Bailey was thrilled when she caught sight of bald dolls at her local American Girl store. Why? Because she is the mother of Mia, an 8-year-old girl with alopecia areata, an autoimmune disorder that causes people to lose their hair. That means that Mia is bald, just like her new American Girl doll, which Bailey gladly bought for her daughter’s recent birthday. The ecstatic mother also posted this touching letter to the American Girl Facebook page:
