The holiday of Purim is just around the corner, so dust off those costumes and get ready to nosh on some hamentaschen! Purim begins this year at sundown on Wednesday, March 4 and continues until sundown on Thursday, March 5. Here’s where to celebrate Purim near you:

Community-Wide Pre-Purim Carnival
Your kids are raring to show off their costumes, so let them get dressed up a bit early this year and burn off some energy at this pre-Purim carnival featuring a moon bounce, face painting, a video game truck, magic show, and more. $8 per person, $30 per family.

J Town Stay and Play Purim Dress-Up Day
Check out the coolest new Jewish indoor play space in town while rocking your Purim costume. Free for JCC members, $5 per child for non-members during peak hours, free and open to the community after 1pm.

Purim Celebration
Join B’nai Israel and PJ Library for a magic show, face painting, balloons, and a special guest appearance by characters from the movie Frozen. Megillah reading to follow. This event is co-sponsored by JADE (Jewish Advocates for Deaf Education) and there will be a sign language interpreter present. Fun for all ages, free and open to the community.

J-Town Costume Contest
Submit a picture of your little ones looking adorable in their Purim costumes, or even one of the whole family. Contest dates run from 3/1 through 3/13. Winner receives a free session at J-Town or at the Park Height’s JCC’s Happy Glaze pottery painting studio. Pictures can be submitted to mlevine@jcc.org. Photos submitted may be utilized on social media outlets.
