Yes, you read that right. We can’t make this stuff up. One mom just gave birth to her baby this morning–for all the world to see. Comedian Fakamalo Kihe Eiki, who lives in Carmichael, California, streamed his wife’s labor on Facebook Live (with her permission, we imagine, of course).
To be honest, I don’t even know how to feel right now. I’m all about people doing what they want (as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone), and I’m really glad both parents feel empowered to share such an intimate moment. Because birth is beautiful and empowering and life-changing.
But, I’m personally a pretty private person (despite the fact that I am an avid social media user), and the thought of sharing my own birth story (if I become a mom one day) makes me highly uncomfortable. Regardless, of course, it’s also interesting to realize how we can literally share every moment (especially the big ones) with our families and friends as if they’re in the same room as us.
