Here at Kveller, we have a soft spot for musical parodies. We had a ton for Hanukkah, followed by a very disappointing shortage for Tu Bishvat. So when Purim drew closer, we were really holding out for a solid chunk of parodies to delight us. Purim begins Wednesday night, and unless we’ve got some last minute surprises coming up, you guys really dropped the ball on this one.
Well, most of you.
Enter this amazing family (and their friends), who repurposed Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson’s smash hit “Uptown Funk“–newly dubbed “Shushan Funk”–to tell the Purim story in a way that will have you bopping until the last of the hamantaschen is gone. Be forewarned: it’s an earworm.
Enjoy!
This video was filmed in JTown, an awesome new Jewish indoor play space created by our Kveller Baltimore partner, the Center for Jewish Education, together with the JCC, both agencies of the Associated Jewish community Federation of Baltimore.
