There are a lot of things we want for Mother’s Day, but this one is most certainly an unexpected (but very welcome!) gift.
The Maccabeats — possibly our favorite Jewish a cappella group — have released a moving tribute to their own Jewish moms, just in time for Mother’s Day. While the short video lacks the shtick and the sparkle of other Maccabeats releases, this one is sure to melt your heart.
The song is a cover of Kodaline’s “I Wouldn’t Be.” The lyrics are simple and touching: “I wouldn’t be who I am without you/ I wouldn’t sing the way I sing without you.” Too sweet!
The video features beautiful throwback photos of the singers and their Jewish moms. Awww. Happy Mother’s Day, Maccabeats mamas!
Can we ask?
It's important to us to keep the warm, joyfully Jewish community on Kveller accessible for all. Reader donations help us do just that. Can you spare a few to keep Kveller free? (We'll love you forever.)
