Music is one of the few things in life that truly brings people of diverse backgrounds together–both in sad and happy times. Now that it’s Hanukkah, and 2016 is quickly closing (and not on a great note), it’s the perfect time for songs about beginnings and endings. This means, it’s basically the perfect time for Bob Dylan songs. This is why I love the fact that Jerusalem-based band Tamar and Netanel covered Dylan’s bittersweet “Girl Of The North Country.”
The duo, who are married, reinvented the song as an dreamy folk song–and it’s really addicting and calming, as I’ve already listened to the song three times in a row. Seriously, I’m not exaggerating. They posted the song to their Facebook page right in time for Hanukkah, stating:
“happy holiday everyone! it wasn’t easy finding an opportunity to shoot a video in this weather but we made it.
we’re happy to share with you a *New Cover*, and this time of bob dylan!
this sunday, the 8th candle of hanukkah, we will perform at the *beer bazaar* in ben yehuda market with our double bass player Or Hasson! there will be new songs from the upcoming album, hope to see you there.
We wish you a holiday full of light.”
