Submit Your Favorite Jewish Recipe to the Kveller Family Cookbook

You don't have to be a chef or balabusta to contribute to our compilation showing off the delicious diversity of Jewish life.

We are very excited to share that we’ve been cooking up something special for you: A Kveller family cookbook, inspired by the oil-stained, spiral-bound booklets sold by your synagogue’s Sisterhood. And we need your help to make it happen.

Our cookbook will be made up of recipes from Kveller’s vibrant online community, and we want it to represent the delicious diversity of Jewish food and life. So, we invite you all to share your treasured recipes with us – whether it’s a family recipe that’s been passed down through generations, the annual centerpiece of your Rosh Hashanah table, or something you found in a cookbook years ago that you’ve tweaked to become an indispensable part of your weekly menu. We’re looking for all kinds of dishes – from Ashkenazi, Sephardi and Mizrahi Jewish classics to the easy main you whip up when faced with unexpected guests to the dessert that everyone’s waiting for. And if you’ve been meaning to get in the kitchen with your grandma and commit her famous kugel or sambusak recipe to paper for the first time, consider this the push you need.

In keeping with the long-standing American tradition of community cookbooks, you do not need to be a “cook,” a “chef” or even a “balabusta” to contribute. In the immortal words of our bubbes: Variety is the spice of life, so come as you are, whether you regularly cook up a storm and enjoy the meditative magic of baking, are a master of the 30-minute meal, or have found a store-bought shortcut that helps you put dinner on the table. There’s room at our table for everyone.

If you’d like us to consider your recipe for our cookbook, all you have to do is share it with the Kveller team by filling out this short form. We’d like to know the name of your recipe, the recipe itself, and a little bit about why it’s so special to you – perhaps you have a specific memory of eating it or of a person who made it with love, or an association with a specific occasion or place.

Please share your recipe by filling out this form before July 31, and we’ll follow up with you if it’s selected. We can’t wait to learn more about you through this project, and share your stories and secrets with the wider Kveller community.
