Tired of Barbie yet? Barbie has been making rounds in the media lately, with a new campaign for girls, the first ever boy in a commercial, and now this. Reese Witherspoon wants to make a movie about Barbie’s Jewish creator Ruth Handler with Bold Films and Bruna Papandrea’s Pacific Standard.
According to The Hollywood Rerporter, they are basing the film on Robin Gerber’s “Barbie and Ruth: The Story of the World’s Most Famous Doll and the Woman Who Created Her,” which centers around Handler creating the famous doll after her own daughter.
Bold Films’ chairman Michel Litvak will produce the film for Bold Films, while Witherspoon and Papandrea will produce the film under their Pacific Standard banner. Livtak stated why the project is so important:

We can’t wait to see it–we wonder who will play Barbie’s creator. I guess we’ll just have to stay tuned.
