It’s only been 10 days since 2017 started, and already one of the best things has already happened. A Detroit mom wore a Chewbacca mask during labor. She and I clearly need to be friends, because she sounds awesome.
Katie Stricker Curtis gave birth to her son, Jayden earlier this week. What makes it so remarkable is the fact that she was filmed while having serious contractions wearing a Chewbacca mask similar to the one made famous in May by “Chewbacca mom” Candace Payne.
Curtis’ sense of humor is not only hilarious, but inspiring, as she shows us that even in extreme pain, we can find humor–and humor can also make pain easier to deal with. Plus, maybe she was trying to channel the Force during one of the most difficult experiences ever.
Her sense of humor is also seen in her caption alongside the video:
“Just because I’m about to be a mom doesn’t mean I have to grow up! Bwahahahahs never take life too seriously!
#havingababy #pregnancyhairgrowth.”
The video, naturally, has gone viral, with about 350,000 views so far. Not too shabby.
