Famous Canadian Jewish mama Jessica Mulroney — yes, also Meghan Markle’s best friend and stylist — just said goodbye to her adorable 7-year-old twins who are going to sleepaway camp. She posted an Instagram of her husband and three kids at the camp, with the caption: “I’m not crying. You’re crying.”
Why is this news, you ask?
Because, being a famous Jewish person, Mulroney had to deal with some vaguely anti-Semitic trolls who were, uh, annoyed she was sending her kids to camp — the NERVE! — and sad about saying goodbye to them.
Someone commented, “Unless you are Jewish which I believe is the norm for sending your kids away all summer, where I live anyway, or want to get rid of your kids for the summer, why do it?”
Sorry, what? Maybe there are some major upsides to camp — for both kids and parents? Why is this labeled a “Jewish thing?” Also: Last time we checked the calendar, it’s already late July (sad face), so clearly the Mulroney boys aren’t gone for “the summer.” (Mulroney herself posted that she was only sending them to camp for 20 days.)
But no fear, Mulroney’s clap-back was perfect: “Hmmmm, how about we not use disgusting stereotypes on my feed. K thx.”
(We caught a screenshot before the comments were deleted.)
Mulroney — and her kids — catapulted into fame at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Mulroney’s daughter Ivy, 4, was a bridesmaid, and her twin boys, Brian and John, held Markle’s veil as she walked into the church.
We hope they have a wonderful time at camp!
