Joining the growing list of retailers and stores cutting off Ivanka Trump’s products, Burlington Coat Factory has now removed all of her brand’s products from its website, joining Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Sears, T.J. Maxx, and Kmart.
Shannon Coulter, the woman who co-founded the #GrabYourWallet boycott to protest President Donald Trump and his family, claims that Burlington had been selling 13 Ivanka Trump brand products on its site up until last week. As of this past Tuesday, her products are nowhere to be seen on the website, with a message saying, “We were unable to find results for ‘Ivanka Trump.'”
The New Jersey-based company has not released a statement regarding the decision to remove her products as of yet, so it’s unclear why the choice was made, although because of this, the #GrabYourWallet campaign said they would continue to boycott the store until further notice, stating:
“Burlington Coat Factory has removed all Trump brand goods from its site but has made no public statement about brick-and-mortar locations, so it too remains on the [boycott] list.”
That being said, many Trump supporters have come to Ivanka’s defense and posted on the company’s Facebook page that they intend to boycott the retailer for removing her products, such as:
Either way, it seems the choice to keep or drop Ivanka Trump’s products has created a huge divide with people across many different political backgrounds–which has resulted in a lot of ugly fighting on and off social media. It does really make you think about what you buy–in terms of where it comes from and what political stance is behind it. It is important to buy products from companies and brands you respect.
All I can say is, be kind to each other, even if they have different beliefs than you do. It’s OK to disagree, but it’s not OK to berate people, or call them names, for their choices. If we learn anything from the current political climate, it’s about hearing each other out so we can move forward with everyone’s best interests at heart.
