If your kid is a fan of “Frozen,” then you might want to know about the hype surrounding Elsa having a female love interest in the upcoming sequel. Fans are currently petitioning for the animated princess to get a girlfriend in “Frozen 2”–there’s also a hashtag campaign,#GiveElsaAGirlfriend, going strong.
Well, the voice behind Elsa approves.
Jewish singer and actress Idina Menzel, who voices Elsa, told EW her feelings regarding the campaign. She said she backs it “no matter what,” stating:
“I think it’s great. Disney’s just gotta contend with that. I’ll let them figure that out.”
I love the fact that Menzel came out in support, not just because she’s a public figure, but especially because it’s a franchise geared toward kids. Her statement of support illustrates to her fans that everyone is equal and deserves love–and that’s a lesson worth learning.
As of now, a premiere date and further details on the plot of “Frozen 2” are currently unknown. We, along with your 4-year-old, are waiting eagerly in anticipation.
