Chrissy Teigen wants us to know she’s not a regular mom — she’s a cool mom.
And, for the record, we totally agree! Teigen may not be Jewish but she’s nonetheless one of our favorite celebrity moms — she’s feisty, hilarious, totally transparent about mom life, and a social media queen.
But as much as we love Teigen, a recent Instagram post made us go yikes.
On Thursday, Teigen, 33, shared a picture of herself getting inked by celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Winter. The tattoo in question? A series of 15 numbers running down her forearm.
If that reminds you of the tattoos that Auschwitz prisoners — and therefore Holocaust survivors — were branded with, then we’re on the same page.
It’s not a great feeling, but we’re not alone: “I know this came from an innocent place but it’s pretty insensitive,” wrote therestlessfoodie, a commenter on Teigen’s post. “I would encourage those on this page to look up the history surrounding tattooing during the Holocaust.”
In reality, Teigen’s tattoo represents her family members’ birthdays: her father Ron Teigen Sr., her mom Vilailuck Teigen, husband John Legend, and their kids Luna, 3, and Miles, 1.
“Cool mom back at it again!” Teigen captioned her Instagram post.
“The ultimate mnemonic device!” her supportive husband Legend commented.
And yet, if you scrolled past the photo and cringed, we don’t blame you. But let’s not hold Teigen’s very permanent tribute to her family against her.
