We are completely devastated to report that Carrie Fisher has died at age 60. The “Star Wars” actress had a heart attack while aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles this past Friday, about 15 minutes before the plane was scheduled to land. Her daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed her mother’s passing–their family spokesman Simon Halls stated in PEOPLE:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Paramedics were waiting at the gate by the time the plane landed, and the L.A. City Fire Department provided advanced life support and treatment before transporting Fisher to the UCLA Medical Center.
Our thoughts and condolences are with her family. She will always be Princess Leia to me.
