Barbra Streisand is the Jewish Grandmother She Was Born to Be

What’s it like to have Barbra Streisand as your grandmother? One lucky kid will soon find out.

But first, some history: Streisand was married to actor Elliott Gould from 1963 to 1971. The two had one son, Jason, who is now 51 and has no children. In 1998, Babs married actor James Brolin. While they do not have any kids together, he has three children from his two previous marriages — including actor Josh Brolin.

And, guess what? Josh Brolin’s wife, Kathryn, is pregnant with a girl and due in November. So Barbra Streisand gets to be the Jewish grandma she’s always been destined to be. The younger Brolin recently explained to People, “My wife got [Streisand] a bracelet that said ‘Grandma’ on it and she started crying.” Brolin continued, “She is really into it and I love that she is into it. I mean, it’s like very typical Jewish grandmother who is saturated by this event. It’s awesome.”

Brolin has two kids from a previous marriage, but they were born before Streisand married his dad. Still, Streisand has acted as a grandmother to them. In a 2009 interview, she explained being a grandma is “more important than business,” telling Parade, “Our granddaughter came over the other day, Josh’s daughter. She’s 16 years old and it was the sweetest thing — she just wanted to spend time with us. I cancelled all my appointments. I had a lawyer’s appointment and a business appointment and I said, ‘I can’t make it today.’ It’s so much fun to be with her. That’s more important now. More important than business.”

As this is the first grandchild born while Streisand is married to Brolin, Streisand is apparently very invested in the baby name process, e-mailing every day with ideas. (We have some, Babs!)

Sidenote: Remember when Babs cloned her dogs?
