It’s been a hard year. I don’t have to say why (although I mean, it’s the year Leonard Cohen died, so you know, enough said), which is why a small kind gesture can go a long way. For Sarah Clark, this is the case. Clark, a 29-year-old server and bartender at Pita Jungle in Norterra, Arizona, was absolutely flabbergasted when a couple gave her a 1,468 percent tip on a $61.30 bill on December 20, as 12 News reported.
It came at a great time, as Clark is pregnant with her first child, and due on January 8–Clark’s fiancé is due to have leg surgery this coming Thursday. What’s even more magical about it, however, is the big tip came from a couple is is expecting a child. Clark did not identify the couple. She told AZ Family how much this meant to her:
“We’re not going to be making any income. So this is really going to help with rent and other bills and things like that.
This is God’s money — He gave it to us so we could give it to you. God bless,” the receipt read. “I couldn’t believe what I was looking at at first because it was such a high amount. $900 is a lot of money. It took a while for it to set in, and once it did I cried for a little while.”
This is a much needed reminder that good, kind, compassionate people do exist in the world, and that gives me hope in a time where I’ve gotten easily discouraged. Happy Hanukkah! Don’t forget to do a kind gesture for someone for the holidays.
