Hanukkah comes but once a year — and this year, it’s early. Hanukkah begins the night of Sunday, Dec. 2 and lasts until Monday, Dec. 10.
With so little time between Thanksgiving and the Festival of Lights, throwing your own Hanukkah party may be off the books. But it’s absolutely not too late to find that perfect Hanukkah party to take your kids to. Here are some ways to discover what’s going on around you:
Search Facebook events near you
Facebook is a great place to find nearby Hanukkah parties and events. Just use your discretion, because some events marked public are not, in fact public. A good way to tell is to make sure the host of the event is an organization and if you’re unsure, you can message the host to be safe.
Find a local synagogue
Even if you’re not one to normally go to synagogue, you can safely assume that the synagogue near you has some Hanukkah related kid-friendly event — and it will likely be welcoming to non-members, too.
Find a Chabad menorah lighting near you
Chabad is big on Hanukkah events and public menorah lightings, and even has a handy-dandy search tool to find the Hanukkah event closest to you.
Search for a local or nearby Jewish Community Center
Who doesn’t love the JCC? Jewish community centers are always great at throwing kid-friendly Hanukkah parties. It’s easy to find one near you.
