Rashida Jones, the 42-year-old Jewish actress, secretly gave birth a month ago. She welcomed her first child with boyfriend Ezra Koenig, 34, the Jewish frontman of Vampire Weekend.
Their relationship is a secret, their baby is a secret… what else don’t we know!?
Us Weekly broke the news this morning. How she kept her pregnancy a secret is beyond us, but if you scroll through her Instagram, it’s just pictures of her face. (And some very cute throwbacks.)
And then, E! News reported some more crucial details: Rashida and Ezra welcomed a son in August, and named him Isaiah Jones Koenig. (People one-upped E! with a report that the baby was born on August 22.) Isaiah is a name of a Jewish prophet from the Bible that means “God is Salvation.”
There was some speculation of Jones’s pregnancy status around the time of the Oscars, when she wore a very flowy dress to the Vanity Fair Oscars Party.
Jones and Koenig have never publicly confirmed their relationship, but have been spotted together since 2016. When she spoke at Harvard in 2016 (where she graduated class of ’97), Koenig was there to support her.
Jones was recently out and about promoting a new Netflix documentary, Quincy, which she directed about her dad, legendary producer Quincy Jones. (Her mom is Jewish actress Peggy Lipton, who’s best known for The Mod Squad and Twin Peaks.)
Mazel tov to the new parents!
