Jewish mom and comedian Chelsea Peretti attended the Academy Awards on Sunday night with husband Jordan Peele — who won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.
While he thanked his wife, however, he might have been concerned she wouldn’t hear his speech. That’s because Peretti spent large parts of the night pumping breast milk for the couple’s 7-month-old son, Beaumont Gino Peele. Thankfully, Peretti was, in fact, in her seat to see her husband win big.
Peretti has been candidly documenting her pumping experience during awards season on Instagram. Last night was no exception to the theme:
The actor also mentioned that she pumped, wait for it, in someone’s trailer the night before. (“Working on getting the EGOT of pumping locations,” she quipped, referencing the showbiz “grand slam” of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.) Which immediately made me wonder: How could there NOT be a super fancy Oscars breastfeeding and/or pumping room? Assuming Peretti was at an Oscar-related event or preparation, seems sad she had to pump in a trailer.
It sounds like even moms in Hollywood don’t get the support they need when it comes to work/life balance. But when it comes to looking seriously glam, this couple has it all figured out.
