The pantsuit has became increasingly politicized over the years, whether you like it or not. Hillary Clinton famously made the pantsuit a thing — wearing them throughout much of her career — so much so that a “secret” pro-Clinton Facebook support group is known as Pantsuit Nation. (It now has some 3.8 million members.)
So, it seemed more than just a coincidence when First Lady Melania Trump wore a white pantsuit to President Trump’s first State of the Union speech earlier this week. Magazines everywhere — and not just fashion ones, took note and theorized about what it meant.
Here at Kveller, we’re not going to further politicize this (admittedly splendid) sartorial choice. But we did start thinking about all the great Jewish pantsuit moments in recent history, and how fierce these famous women looked when they wore them. Here are some of our favorites:
