Real friends are honest with you. They won’t sugarcoat or lie or act as if things aren’t so bad. Because sometimes, life is really hard and you haven’t had enough sleep and your job doesn’t have a room for you to pump in, and you are low on cash.
When you have a newborn, multiply that by a thousand. This is why, more than ever, especially during the rough times, you need a good friend. Pink illustrated that fact this weekend when she shared a text conversation between her and a friend:
She said, “Why do babies cry so much? I feel like he’s fucking with me at the point.” To which her friend told her the honest truth: Sometimes, babies are little jerks. They don’t mean to be, but they are. Responding with a “oh but it stops, it’ll get better, your baby doesn’t mean it,” maybe true, but isn’t always helpful to hear when you honestly need someone to be straight with you.
Which is also why Pink captioned the photo saying, “I love my friends.” We all need friends to help us through the hard times, and sometimes just sending a text back at 11 p.m. or 3 p.m. or 3 a.m. when you need to take a second to vent is enough.
