Dolly Parton, our favorite country singer and debutante, founded Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995, as a way to get kids around the country reading. This month, they reached their usual goal (an exciting one!): They mailed out over a million books, about 92,000,000 being free.
This month, @DollysLibrary sent 1,091,724 books, bringing the total number of free books mailed to 91,821,039! https://t.co/ZY4p6xAoCb

What made Parton start the program? Apparently, the reason is very close to home: Her dad never learned how to read.
Dolly Parton’s dad never learned to read. She started a program which sends a book every month to children in need. 92. Million. Books. https://t.co/IGIw4dBbpn

Every month, the organization mails out a million books to kids as a way to foster creativity and learning. Their Twitter is also littered with quotes from Parton that make you believe there is still kindness in the world:

This is where PJ Library, a Jewish nonprofit that send free books to kids, got its inspiration.
