It’s going to be a big summer for Natalie Portman, considering her new movie “Planetarium” is coming out on August 11 in the U.S., a date which was just announced today. The movie is a period drama set in Paris during the late 1930s.
So, what’s it actually about? Portman and Lily-Rose Depp play sisters who are supposedly able to talk to ghosts. to possess the supernatural ability to connect with ghosts. The rest, of course, becomes a mysterious drama. Portman told Variety that she was excited to make the film, especially since it’s directed by Rebecca Zlotowski:
“I knew her before she was a filmmaker; we were together on the day she received funding for her first film, ‘Dear Prudence.’ It was very moving to watch her become a filmmaker in person!”
In other Portman-related news, it does appear that she dropped out of playing the notorious RBG (aka Ruth Bader Ginsburg) in “On the Basis of Sex,” a forthcoming biopic about the Supreme Court Justice’s life. The reason for dropping out hasn’t been publicly stated (though it’s probably scheduling); she’s being replaced by “Rogue One” star Felicity Jones.
