This Jewish Comedian’s Twitter Rant About Pregnant Women Is Gold

Why is it that people seem to freely comment on pregnant women’s bodies and choices? It seems like women, especially moms, can’t just catch a break. This is why pregnant comedian Chelsea Peretti went on an epic Twitter rant recently, sounding like a Kveller writer and listing all the things you should not say to a pregnant person–with the extra twist of what she would like to say back to the nosy folks she encounters.

Peretti, who stars in the sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” is married to actor and director Jordan Peele and expecting their first child, so clearly she’s heard a thing or two in recent history–and knows a lot about what pregnant women don’t want to hear.

Here’s what she had to say about it:

“IF U C A PREG WOMAN OUT & ABOUT & FEEL INCLINED 2 SHOUT SOMETHING IN HER FACE ABOUT HOW SHE LOOKS – GET READY FOR A SHOUT BACK ON UR LOOKS.

UR BABY LOOKS READY TO DROP!” “THANKS MISS, UR PANTS LOOK HEMMED AT A WEIRD LENGTH” Good talk.”

The moral of the story: Don’t make other people’s business your own–and if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Nosy questions and criticism doesn’t become OK just because someone is expecting a baby–or really, at all. Treat pregnant women the same as you treat everyone else–with respect.
