Passover is almost here! It starts Monday evening, April 10, and ends Tuesday evening, April 18. So, if you’re planning a seder, you’re going to be in need of a haggadah–and if you’re ordering one online, that means you probably should start looking now.
Luckily for you, we’ve rounded up eight gorgeous haggadot for your consideration this Passover season. Even better yet, most of these are kid-friendly–and there’s a few funny ones too. And don’t forget to check out our piece on the unofficial Hogwarts Haggadah.
1. “For This We Left Egypt?: A Passover Haggadah for Jews and Those Who Love Them” by Dave Barry, Alan Zweibel, and Adam Mansbach.
Who doesn’t want a funny haggadah to give your entire family a laugh? And really, a sense a humor can go a long way. Plus, any story with a character named Pharaoh Schmuck is a story I want to read.
2. “Passover Parodies” by Shoshana Hantman
If you don’t want a dull seder, this haggadah is for you.
3. “A Passover Haggadah: As Commented Upon” by Elie Wiesel and Illustrated by Mark Podwal
Who doesn’t want a seder with comments by Elie Wiesel? Enough said.
4. “A Family Haggadah II” by Shoshana Silberman
Perfect for families with teens.
5. “The Unorthodox Haggadah: A Dogma-free Passover for Jews and Other Chosen People” by Nathan Phillips
This one is for those who are more cultural than they are religious–but still want to take part in the traditions.
6. “Escape Velocity, A Post-Apocalyptic Passover Haggadah” by Stan Lebovic
This haggadah is more philosophical and asks existential questions–definitely not a light read!
7. “Sammy Spider’s First Haggadah” by Sylvia A. Rouss
This is the Passover story for young kids, as told by Sammy the spider.
8. “Our Family Haggadah” by the Spring Asher
This is a family-friendly haggadah that welcomes everyone of all backgrounds and knowledge of Passover. Perfect for interfaith families.
The Passover seder is an adventure, not a chore — and Kveller’s new, family-friendly haggadah captures all the excitement, plus explains everything you need to know. Best of all? It’s free! Get it here.
