Is there ever a bad time for music? I don’t think so. For many of us, music brings us together in both happy and challenging times–and also becomes a point of nostalgia. That’s kind of why I love cover songs, because it brings something new to something that I already love.
In this case, Jerusalem-based band Tamar and Netanel recently recorded themselves doing a folk cover of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound,” and it’s really quite lovely. The band is made up of married couple Tamar and Netanel Amar, who both grew up in Jerusalem. Their first album was chosen as one of the 200 best albums of 2015 by Record 1001 Magazine.
They posted the song on their Facebook page, citing Sukkot as inspiration:
“Happy Sukkot everyone! This holiday sometimes makes us miss our safe home… So we decided to perform this Simon & Garfunkel‘s beloved song in our little Sukkah. Enjoy listening and have a great holiday.”
