In the latest and grossest news of the day, disgraced former congressman Anthony Weiner reportedly sexted with a 15-year-old girl for months on various social media messaging services–which clearly lows his morality bar to non-existent. And it was already pretty low. Way to be the biggest creep ever.
The girl, whose name was not released because of her age, talked to the Daily Mail about how their sexting relationship lasted since January 2016. This included exchanging nude photos–she claims Weiner pressured her to dress up in school girl outfits for him and shared his “rape fantasies.” My reaction to all of this: REALLY?!
Even if this was Weiner’s first scandal, it would be absolutely awful. The fact that this is just another number in his series of scandals is appalling. To make matters even more complicated, this comes right after his wife and Hillary Clinton advisor Huma Abedin left him. This could definitely sway a custody battle.
While the girl and her father stated that they weren’t interested in pressing charges against Weiner, as the correspondence was consensual, they came forward “out of concern that Weiner may be sexting with other underage girls.” The 15-year-old, who is interested in politics, said she called Weiner her “Hannibal Lecter.”
She also said she was trying to write a book about him, and says she encouraged him to engage with her in a sexual manner–although he was aware of her age the entire time. It seems they never met in real life, but would Skype:
“[Weiner’s] son was in the bathtub at the time just downstairs. So he would yell at his son to check on him, and then he asked me to take my clothes off, and just started saying these really sexual things.”
The girl ended up telling her father about the relationship in April, and claims Weiner told her to lie and “pressured her to write two more letters to her father and teacher saying that she lied about the natures of their relationship and the two of them were just friends.” You can see some of their messages at The Daily Mail.
So, what does Weiner have to say for himself? Well, he didn’t deny any of the allegations, as he stated:
“I have repeatedly demonstrated terrible judgement about the people I have communicated with online and the things I have sent. I am filled with regret and heartbroken for those I have hurt.”
Truly horrifying behavior on behalf of an adult male who should know better.
