While May seems like a far away time, it’s really not. And that means Mother’s Day is basically right around the corner–yes, it’s that time of year where you are simultaneously awaiting a celebration from your own partner and kids, and planning what to actually get your mom. It also means every company ever is going to start their “Moms are awesome and loved!!!!” campaign.
So, when Pandora debuted their new ad celebrating moms and daughters, I was skeptical. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Their ad, titled “The Unique Thank You,” featured girls who were asked to write down something they learned from their moms, such as:
“Thank you for giving me a platform to be open-minded.”
What makes the ad interesting is the fact that the messages are hung up in a room, where the moms are brought in so they can guess which was written by their daughter. If they guess correctly, they are able to watch a personalized video of their daughter thanking them.
The most significant part of this ad is the fact that it highlights what moms do everyday without even realizing it. It’s easy to forget how much you shape your kids every day–even when you think they aren’t watching you–even when you’re folding the laundry and going to the grocery store.
This video reminds moms that what they do matters. You matter. You are your kid’s hero, even if they don’t say it.
