Watch This Family Meet Their Sons for the First Time After a 3 Year Wait

Imagine waiting to hug and kiss your kids for the first time for three years. Seems almost unimaginable, right? Well, that’s what happened to parents James and Jennifer Grover. They began the process of adopting two boys from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2012. Finally, on March 1, 2016, their sons arrived in the U.S. and joined their family for the first time.

This monumental moment was documented in a video for their adoption agency, West Sands Adoption, now posted on Facebook by Jennifer, of Joseph and Bronson’s arrival. It’s already been viewed over 3.5 million times, which is astounding. In the video, the parents open up about the difficult process of bringing their sons home, because of the additional challenges other countries’ governments enforce when dealing with adoptions. For instance, in 2013, the DRC stopped issuing exit permits for Congolese children adopted by foreign families.

Which, of course, means the boys were stuck in their home country, and the Grovers were left waiting without any real explanation. Sadly, this isn’t the first time they’ve had to deal with the complications of the international adoption process. After having four biological children, they first adopted their daughter Lauren from Kazakhstan 15 years ago. Then, they adopted two boys with Down syndrome from China, although one of their sons tragically passed away in 2013.

Despite everything, they wouldn’t have chosen any other path, stating the personal hardships have been worth it:

“They’re my sons. There’s no way you can give up.”
