Jordan Hanzon, a film student at the University of Utah, recently posted a different version of “Inside Out” on Vimeo. What’s so different about it? He edited the animated Pixar film to only include the exterior version of the film, meaning none of the “inside” thoughts or characters were featured.
“Inside Out” has been on many prediction lists for the Oscars already (with the announcement coming out this Thursday! We’re already on the edge of our seats here).
Personally, I loved the film when I first saw it (which was in a drive-thru theater in Cape Cod while I was on vacation…kind of the best way to see it), but I can’t say that this version doesn’t also heavily intrigue me. For instance, the fact that the filmmakers, Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, were able to create two simultaneous stories that actually are strong enough on their own is pretty incredible.

But, I also don’t want to give away too much about this version. The edit, while rough in some parts, speaks for itself. Watch the entire cut below:
