“New Girl” star and mom Zooey Deschanel has officially joined the tribe, according to Us Weekly. She converted to Judaism for her husband and producer Jacob Pechenik a month before the birth of their daughter, Elsie, according to an “inside source.”
The daughter of a Quaker and Roman Catholic, Deschanel previously stated that she did not identify with any specific religion: “I don’t attach myself to any one religion. My family is liberal. I was raised in the ‘you can be whatever you want’ kind of way. And in the end, I was like, ‘Eh.’”

Seems like she changed her mind–which we’re totally OK with, because she is adorable. Lately, there has been a string of celebrity women converting to Judaism, such as Jenna Jameson and Drew Barrymore.
