Who gives up receiving birthday presents? Quinn and Nate Mitchell do–to make 900 sandwiches for the homeless instead. On October 4, they celebrated their joint birthday party, where they had 50 kids come to their house with two pounds of bologna. This is some pretty epic sandwich making. Right on.
This isn’t the first time 10-year-old Quinn has celebrated her birthday by giving back to others. “I thought it was the right thing to do. They don’t have as much as I do, so I decided I didn’t need much more. I already have a great family and food in my house, so I want to give to them.”
Nate and Quinn’s mission was accomplished when they brought about 900 sandwiches to a local homeless shelter near Albany. Of course, they still had a super cool, fun-packed party which included pie eating contests, tie dye, relays, dodgeball, pizza, and cake (our favorite). Besides being charitable, they also know how to throw a good party!
Happy birthday, Nate and Quinn–we’re glad you value human lives more than birthday presents.
