Amy Schumer is definitely 2015’s “It Girl.” She’s won box office success for “Trainwreck,” got an Emmy (no big deal), sold her memoir for 8-10 million, and just hosted “Saturday Night Live.” Is that enough to prove she’s basically just winning at life?
Well, now the Jewish triple threat wants women to feel empowered, and she’s going to help through fashion. Schumer opened up about her struggles with body image and self-confidence, telling TODAY that she didn’t have a lot of confidence until her stylist Leesa Evans from “Trainwreck” showed her how to dress:
“It’s an emotional thing. It’s been a struggle for me my whole life, and especially just being in the entertainment industry. Standing on a stage in front of people, I can’t perform my best or be confident if I’m not sure—if I’m pulling at something [I’m wearing]. And sometimes I would just want to throw in the towel and be like, ‘I’m not gonna go do standup tonight.’
Leesa had given me this gift of showing me how to dress and feel good. And she didn’t have to do this, she just did. She shopped for my sister also, and seeing my little sister wearing a little blazer and a shirt and looking just like a strong, beautiful woman, it was … to see this person I care the most about being given those tools was really moving for me.”

In many ways, Evans is Schumer’s inspiration for her new project. She wants to give confidence to other women by educating them, just as Evans did, by allowing them to love their bodies the way they are. Because of this, she is teaming up with Goodwill of Southern California to educate women through fashion in an upcoming HBO special.
We can’t wait to see it.
