According to Fox News, “Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere is voluntarily entering treatment for postpartum depression. Last December, the 26-year-old actress gave birth to her daughter with husband and professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
Panettiere opened up about her experience on “Live with Kelly and Michael” in September, stating:
“When [you’re told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child, I want to injure or hurt my child,’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do. But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on…It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”

While we are saddened to hear Panettiere is going through this struggle, we appreciate her openness in the public eye. We can’t imagine how hard it must be having her entire life unfold before countless strangers’ eyes, but at the same time, her candidness allows mothers all around the world to understand they aren’t alone. And that seeking help doesn’t suggest weakness, but strength.
And nothing is more important than that.
