1. It’s “The Hobbit”
It’s the story of a hobbit on a mission with a magic ring in his pocket. There are elves, there are dwarves, there are evil orcs, there’s a dragon! These are the kinds of things that are good in a movie.
2. Action
I like a movie with sword fights and weird weapons. No guns, no bombs, just weapons.
3. A Journey
As J.R.R. Tolkien knew, the story of a journey is a captivating one. There are obstacles and there are moments of perseverance and courage. “The Hobbit” is a personal journey as well as a collective one. Whether you’re a fan of the Bible, contemporary psychoanalysis, or “The Hobbit,” the notion of a journey can and should appeal to you!
4. Evangeline Lilly
One of the only television shows I have watched in the past 15 years was Lost. To see “Kate” in The Hobbit was, in a word, amazing.
5. This Guy
6. The Experience
I don’t go to movies a lot and I really love getting back into the movie-going life now that my kids are older and I can make more time to go to the movies. I eat popcorn and I drink Coca Cola at the movies and it’s just an overall good time.
7. The Trilogy
Even though “The Desolation of Smaug” was not a particularly meaty film plot-wise, I found the ending tremendously exciting and I simply cannot wait for the third installment. Bring it on!
