The Kid-Dish: A Jewish Attorney Was Just Named ABC’s Bachelorette

All the Jewish celebrity parent gossip you (n)ever wanted to know.

–  Incoming bachelorette Andi Dorfman is an assistant district attorney from Atlanta who famously got in a tiff with last season’s Juan Pablo Galavis–ABC’S most obnoxious bachelor ever–accusing him of not knowing anything about her religion or political views. Andi’s dad, named Hy (!), also earned praise from fans when he was uncharmed by the Venezuelan soccer player. Mazal Tov, Andi! (The Forward)

-Sounds like the Adele Dazeem, AKA actress/singer (and Jewish mom!) Idina Menzel, is having the last laugh. Her musical play “If/Then,” which opened on Broadway this week, raked in $909,159 in its first week of preview performances. Menzel was instantly launched to internet fame when John Travolta flubbed her name at the Oscars, where she sang the “Frozen” ballad, “Let It Go.” (LA Times)

-In 2012, she ran for POTUS and now she’s setting her eyes on Israel. This week, Rosanne Barr, Jewish comedian and mom of five, tweeted back and forth with the aliyah organization @NefeshBNefesh about her plan to move to the holy land, eventually taking the conversation to private messaging. (Times of Israel)

-The sixth season of “Real Housewives of New York” is underway. The mostly Jewish cast of upper-crust mamas–with names like Ramona Singer and Aviva Drescher–is off to a gossipy start with a brand new cast-member: Kristen Taekman. (Vulture)

-See Simon Cowell and girlfriend Lauren Silverman, mom of new baby Eric, partying it up in London this week. If you haven’t been following the saga of Simon’s Jewish baby, read about it here. (Mirror)
