Don’t tell us not to kvell, we’ve simply got to! We’re finally getting an official (!) multi-part (!!) Barbra Streisand documentary (!!!).

The EGOT winner recently shared the news on her Instagram, writing that for years she’s been thinking of how to share the “vast amount of content I’ve been safely storing in my vault, much never seen or heard by the public.” She continued, “And today I’m delighted to finally share that we’re starting production on my official documentary. I’m looking forward to working with Frank Marshall, Alex Gibney and Sony Music to bring this very personal project to screens around the world.”

In a statement, Streisand, 82, also added that “these films, photos and music masters” from her archive “hold some of my most cherished memories.”

The film’s director, Frank Marshall, is the Oscar-winning director of biopics like “The Beach Boys,” “Rather,” “Carole King & James Taylor: Just Call Out My Name” and “The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.” Alex Gibney, who serves as producer, was crowned by Esquire as perhaps “the most important documentarian of our time,” and directed such incredible projects as the Emmy-winning “Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief,” “We Steal Secrets: The Story of Wikileaks,” the Academy Award-nominated “Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room” and the Oscar-winning “Taxi to the Dark Side.” Basically, this is a team of giants, as is appropriate for a project of this importance and magnitude.

In a statement, Marshall, who also produced “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Sixth Sense,” shared that the movie will “illustrate why [Streisand] has become an enduring icon to a global audience of all generations.”

“Please make the documentary 24 hours long,” one commenter wrote on the post, and while it’s a funny joke, especially because of the length of Babs’ autobiography (a 48-hour long audiobook!) we are also kind of serious about that. There’s no way this movie could be too long.

The project is still untitled, and does not have a projected release date at the moment, but we’ll update you the moment we get more news about it.
