Since the devastating news this weekend that six hostages in Hamas captivity were murdered, including Israeli-American 23-year-old Hersh Goldberg-Polin, so many of us have had one very special person on our minds: Hersh’s mother, Rachel Goldberg-Polin.

If there’s one person that came to represent the hostage crisis since October 7, 2023, it’s Rachel. On stage after stage, in social media posts, and in the room with world leaders, Rachel’s level-headed, big-hearted message has been clear: We need to do everything we can to bring the hostages home. Her bravery and courage has known no bounds; her vulnerability during this impossible, ongoing nightmare has been witnessed by so many.

For Jewish mothers in particular, so many of us have seen ourselves in Rachel, in her steadfast determination to save her son. We feel we know her, and as we watch her heart rend open at the loss of her son, our own hearts break, too.

Rachel and her husband Jon have spoken for so many of us during these past 11 months, and we have felt immense gratitude for her continuous fight. Now, as she faces the unimaginable reality of moving forward without Hersh alive, let’s tap into the amazing community of Jewish parents here on Kveller to show her that appreciation and support.

Fill out this form with your message of thanks for Rachel and her family, and we’ll compile these messages in a post on Kveller. Let’s show Rachel and all the families like hers that they are not alone.
