It’s Father’s Day this Sunday, which means it’s time to make some plans if you haven’t already. Regardless of whether you make big or small plans, it’s always fun to watch a movie together as a family–or even as a couple without the kids. Some of these, of course, are not appropriate for young kids, but OK for teens.
I rounded up some of my favorite films with Jewish characters, actors, and themes that you can stream on Netflix. Check them out below:
1. “Anger Management”
I mean, who doesn’t want to see a movie with Adam Sandler and Jack Nicholson?
2. “Big Daddy“
Another Adam Sandler classic, wherein he adopts a 5-year-old. Sandlerian hilarity ensues.
3. “Heavyweights“
Another favorite ’90s film featuring Ben Stiller who plays a fitness trainer at a all boy’s summer camp. Nostalgia, anyone?
Ben Stiller and Sarah Silverman have roles in this film centered around Roger, who is trying to catch a girl’s attention–so he enrolls in a confidence class.
5. “Sarah Silverman: A Speck of Dust“
Speaking of Sarah Silverman, watch her latest standup on Netflix. She’s kind of the funniest lady in the room, in any room. What dad doesn’t appreciate standup?
6. “The BFG“
This is an Disney film by Steven Spielberg, perfect for dads with young kids. And it’s about a giant.
7. “Clone Wars“
It’s an animated TV show for kids set in the “Star Wars” universe. You can binge or check out an episode.
8. “Young Frankenstein“
I mean, who doesn’t want to see this totally classic Mel Brooks film starring the late, great Gene Wilder and an amazing cast?
9. “Hit Record on TV with Joseph Gordon-Levitt“
It’s a sketch comedy show with your teen daughter’s favorite crush.
10. “Blazing Saddles“
More Brooks and Wilder because they are the best. How can you miss with this classic?
11. “Arrested Development“
This also needs no introduction.
